21st Banco Sabadell Foundation Award for Economic Research
The Jury selected Prof Elena Manresa Quirante, holder of a bachelor’s degree in Mathematics from the Polytechnic University of Catalonia in Barcelona and lecturer at the economics department of the New York University (NYU), as the winner of this year’s edition for her research work in the econometrics field, focusing on panel data and the inclusion of machine learning and artificial intelligence, which allow the treatment of heterogeneity in empirical work in economics.

We collaborate with A Tempo, Arts i Formació, an educational project promoted by La Ciutat Invisible Foundation and the performance arts festival Temporada Alta, with the aim of developing critical thinking in the population so that they can actively participate in the region’s cultural life.

The purpose of the Exit Foundation is to reduce the number of socially disadvantaged young people leaving school early through innovative and scalable training projects, which provide added value to companies, enhance networking and boost job placements.

CocreArte. Self-awareness and training through the arts.
We firmly believe in culture and the arts as tools for self-awareness and driving forces for change; therefore, we organised together with the Exit Foundation a group workshop, in which entities with which we work that are engaged in improving the emotional and vocational education of socially disadvantaged young people through the arts and culture participated.

Crescendo. Creamos ópera.
The Amigos del Teatro Real Foundation organises a series of concerts under the name Banco Sabadell Foundation Young Talents Series that offers a training experience and a professional opportunity to young students of the Reina Sofia School of Music who have the chance of interpreting a repertoire linked to the opera programme of the Teatro Real in a series of four concerts and four training sessions.

Culture through photography
We also promote culture through photography, supporting the Foto Colectania Foundation with the aim of disseminating photography and making it known in the social, artistic and educational spheres of our country. Some of these exhibitions in which we participated as main contributor include Martín Chami and his colleagues, Chema Madoz-Helena Almeida and Carrie Mae Weems.

We collaborate with the PÚBLICA programme, a meeting for culture professionals organised by Fundación Contemporánea and the Fine Arts Circle of Madrid to share stories, opportunities and experiences on cultural management.

Dialogues for critical innovation
The Círculo de Bellas Artes organised the second edition of Dialogues for critical innovation, meetings intended to conduct a critical and cross-disciplinary diagnosis of the idea of innovation in the artistic and humanistic fields with which we collaborate.

ELLIS doctoral programme
In addition, we collaborate with the Ellis Foundation to promote young talent in the field of artificial intelligence.

Exit Foundation
Together with the Exit Foundation and the Barcelona Mobile World Capital Foundation, we also created the Escape Fake programme, a training and social innovation project on disinformation and digital checking for a future without fake news aimed at socially disadvantaged young people aged between 16 and 21.

Foros I+D+C
The Círculo de Bellas Artes also organises the FOROS I+D+C, innovation meetings in the Arts and Humanities, where universities and higher centres for artistic education can establish contact and synergies with companies and institutions interested in the social and economic performance of research works in these areas.

Hackathon based on actual challenges that companies and social organisations
The TFCoop Association co-organised jointly with the University of Oviedo a hackathon based on actual challenges that companies and social organisations face in order to allow students to understand their studies and knowledge as key pillars for providing solutions and adding value to real and existing challenges, as well as to gain awareness of their role as agents for change in the sustainable development of our planet.

Hay Festival Segovia
Hay Festival Segovia is an international festival of ideas, literature and the arts, a democratic platform which won in 2020 the Princess of Asturias Award for Communication and Humanities. Year after year, writers, architects, scientists, journalists, philosophers, artists and poets take part in a programme which, in the 17th edition, hosted more than 88 events, 70 debates, 8 workshops, 10 public readings and 4 art exhibitions.

Horagai
Horagai, the proposal of La Selva, Ecosistema creatiu, is a film training project aimed at young people aged 16 to 20 who have been taken in by the Area for the Support of Young People under Guardianship and Former Guardianship (ASJTET), which bases its methodology in experimentation in filmmaking and socio-educational support with the objectives of promoting the destigmatisation of young people in care, providing them with a support ecosystem so they can achieve autonomy, social inclusion and active and participatory citizenship, and giving them tools to improve cross-cutting skills.

The Maria Canals International Music Competition Association has been holding every year since 1954 an international piano competition that celebrated in 2022 its 67th edition, as well as an educational outreach and social programme parallel to the competition in order to reach new audiences and promote musical practice among the population.

Reducing social exclusion through innovation
We recognise social entities and support them for nine months to help them develop their projects from a strategic and innovative perspective via the B-Value Programme, organised together with the Ship2B Foundation, in order to promote social transformation through innovation.

Research grants
Every year, we open applications for 15 research grants in the fields of social sciences and humanities. The grants are open to Spanish researchers who are in the last stage of the doctoral thesis process in a university or scientific centre in Spain and who have already completed at least the first year of their doctoral studies.

The Schubertíada is a unique festival due to its programme, which revolves around the figure of Franz Schubert, poetic songs and chamber music, and his commitment to young talent that sees culture as a tool for transformation and for the creation of knowledge.

UNDER 35 and the ÒH!PERA project
The Gran Teatre del Liceu aims to develop and maintain a stable seasonal artistic programme focused mainly on the opera genre, but supplemented with an offer of concerts, recitals and dance and a programme for kids.

Visual and performing arts
Dentro Cine, created by Cineteca Madrid together with filmmaker Pedro Sara, is an experimental education and artistic creation project with the aim of involving socially disadvantaged young people in transformation processes, emulsifying psychodrama and film. They receive practical training and we teach them film language, equipping them with tools for dialogue, self-exploration, expression and knowledge.

We strengthen our commitment to science
We continue to support the activities of the BIST Foundation since its inception in 2015, an institution for the scientific cooperation between seven pioneering research centres recognised in their respective scientific fields, ranging from the study of subatomic particles to biomedical research.
