‘Conecta Joven-Conecta Mayores’

The ‘Conecta Joven-Conecta Mayores’ (Connect the Young-Connect the Elderly) project of the Balia Foundation is an intergenerational project in which older people and people with intellectual disabilities, who for various reasons have difficulty accessing information and communications technologies (ICTs), get trained on computer literacy.

  • The teaching staff is comprised of young people between 14 and 18 years of age who, on a volunteer basis, undertake a learning process to teach the training. The project is developed through a service-learning methodology, uses ICTs as a vehicle and is taught in secondary schools, senior citizens’ centres and socio-community centres.
