III Banco Sabadell Award for Science and Engineering

The Banco Sabadell Foundation presented the III Award for Science and Engineering, in collaboration with the Barcelona Institute of Science and Technology (BIST), in recognition of young researchers resident in Spain working in disciplines such as mathematics, chemistry, physics and engineering.

  • Career development award to promote, discover and assist in developing talent.
  • Professor David Pérez García, Doctor of Mathematics at the Universidad Complutense de Madrid, was awarded the prize in recognition of his contributions in the field of Mathematics and Quantum Information, in particular the mathematical development of tensor theory applied to condensed matter.

“Initiatives such as this award promote something that I believe is very important, namely, the social recognition of research. I believe that placing an emphasis on young researchers is crucial as it is the features of youth itself, such as the need to know and understand, the need to break moulds and an energetic approach, that are fundamental when it comes to researching at the frontiers of human knowledge”
