#YoCreoTalento – ‘Drone technology grants’ with HEMAV and ‘Young Cellists Award’ with the Pau Casals Foundation

Drone technology grants’ with the HEMAV Foundation

This year we will be supporting the HEMAV Foundation and its Hemav Scholarship. The scholarship consists of two grants to university students studying aeronautical engineering at the UPC in Castelldefels, who will work on technological and social projects using drone technology. These grants aim to meet the imminent demand for staff specialising in this technology.

The projects that have been selected for this programme are FRIDA and LOCUST. The FRIDA project was launched as a sister project for Proactiva Open Arms, and consists in developing an extensive search drone to find people lost at sea in the Mediterranean. The drone will be able to detect vessels using thermo cameras and will instantly send the information to the mother ship, where the crew will decide what action to take. The LOCUST project, together with the FAO and CSIC, will develop a drone methodology to fly over areas in search of swarms of locusts in order to make it easier to find and control these plagues.

Young Cellists Award

The Pau Casals Foundation is giving out the Pau Casals International Award for young celloists to help them train and perfect their technical and artistic skills. This award is aimed at students of advanced level cello or those who have passed their advanced level cello exam and who were born after 31 December 1996.

The call will be open until 6 June 2018.
