Schedule for the weekend of 15 September: art, photography and theatre

This weekend, contemporary art is transformed into the epicentre of Madrid with the eight edition of Apertura Madrid Gallery Weekend in which 46 galleries, more than 60 artists and 14 art centres kick this season off with a special programme open to the general public.

The Hay Festival de Segovia, will also soon kick off. It is a space dedicated to literature through a programme which includes talks, debates, conferences, workshops and exhibitions…

Another new event this weekend is the new play by the actors and actresses at La Kompanyia Lliure, who are jumping back on stage at Teatre Lliure with ‘Nit de reis (o el que volguis)’ by William Shakespeare, version and direction by Pau Carrió. You can watch the play until October 9 at the Gràcia theatre.

Some other of our cultural recommendations for this weekend are located in Barcelona and Valencia.

-‘Weegee by Weegee’ at Fundación Foto Colectania which exhibits the work of the New York chronicler in the 30’s and 40’s.

-‘La eclosión de la abstracción’ at Instituto Valenciano de Arte Moderno (IVAM) which brings together almost 150 works from the Collection, with the objective of analysing the abstract artistic practices developed from the post-war era up until today.
