The Foundation and the Parc Taulí Institute for Research and Innovation undertake a new initiative to promote research

The Banco Sabadell Foundation and the Parc Taulí Institute of Research and Innovation have driven the first call, ‘Intensifica’t al Taulí’, aimed at healthcare professionals of this institution who are currently leading research projects. The grants enable these researchers to be selected externally during a period of up to 12 months, allowing them to devote themselves to a more intensive form of research in order to give renewed impetus to their projects.

The selected applications from this first edition were the Director of Pneumology at Parc Taulí, Dr Eduard Monsó Molas, who leads the group of chronic pulmonary diseases and microbiome, and the doctor of the Endocrinology and Nutrition Service, Dr Assumpta Caixàs Pedragós, who leads the group of obesity and Prader-Willi syndrome.

Dr Monsó leads several research projects, both national and international, related to pulmonary diseases, such as Chronic Obstructive Pulmonary Disease, in the search for better understanding of their causes.

Dr Caixàs has launched projects in the field of endocrinology and, specifically, the effect of the rare Prader-Willi syndrome on patients’ metabolisms. The Parc Taulí Healthcare Corporation is a leading centre in the treatment of this condition.
