This weekend Madrid is transformed into the capital of contemporary European art.

Until 16 September, 46 galleries, more than 60 artists and 14 of the most renowned art centres in the capital are coming together to celebrate the eighth edition of Apertura Madrid Gallery Weekend.

For three days, the galleries and art centres will kick things off with a wide ranging programme of activities, including visits to museums and art collections, as well as opportunities to meet artists. The objective of these events is to bring the general public closer to art and to culture. Apertura Madrid is the prelude to the exhibitions that the galleries in Madrid have scheduled, with more than 300 viewings by at least 400 artists.

Thanks to Apertura, visitors can get to view art from different disciplines such as painting, installation, photography or sculpture throughout the ages, from the masters of avant-garde to contemporary artists, whilst also enjoying the latest creations by young and emerging artists.
