More than 150 young people take part in the first networking event of the RALBAR Community

The Ralbar scholarship programme is an initiative of the University of Leon in partnership with the Banco Sabadell Foundation. It consists of scholarships designed to support undergraduate, master’s and doctoral students of the University of Leon through extracurricular activities in rural areas of the province of Leon, Spain.

These scholarships fuel the implementation of territorial revitalisation projects that contribute to the social, economic and cultural development of rural areas. The selected students receive financial support and benefit from a dual mentorship system: academic and institutional.

The scholarships have evolved over the years, growing in number and impact by creating one of the most dynamic communities of young talent connecting the University with the region, local companies and the third sector. In this regard, an event was organised in order to foster connection and revitalise the community. This event brought together over 150 students and RALBAR scholarship mentors. Scholarship holders from the first four editions also took part in the event and shared their experiences on their efforts to revitalise the rural areas of Leon.

The day was divided in two: a round table to share experiences, where participants discussed their projects’ achievements and challenges, and a networking session, in which old and future scholarship holders were encouraged to share ideas and create new synergies. It was a testament to the RALBAR Community’s commitment to revitalising rural areas and nurturing young talent.
