Cultural plans for the weekend of 26 August: dance, music and exhibitions

For another year, Barcelona will be hosting Programa Internacional de Perfeccionamiento de danza [International Program of Dance Improvement] IBStage. In the framework of this program, this weekend all of the students will share the stage with renowned professionals in two galas that will be held this Saturday (20:00h) and Sunday (17:30h) at the Gran Teatre del Liceu in Barcelona. The show will include the best performers of the most prestigious companies and a dance group comprised of more than 100 ballerinas.

The musical plan for this weekend are the concerts being held by Schubertíada de Vilabertran, the festival which pays tribute to Franz Schubert and which has consolidated itself as an event which creates opportunities for young, talented persons. Today, Friday 26 at 21.30, there will be performance by pianist Daniel Kharitonov; tomorrow, Saturday, there will be two concerts at 18.30 with Dalia Quartet and at 21:30h with baritone Matthias Goerne together with pianist Alexander Schmalcz; and lastly, on Sunday, there is a concert at 11.30 with Solistas de la Camerata432.

We also recommend three exhibitions for this weekend, two of which can be visited in Barcelona, Vivian Maier. In Her Own Hands’ at FotoColectania, an exhibition which shows the photographs taken by the most famous nanny through the streets of New York and ‘Ramon Llull. La máquina de pensar’ which can be visited at Centro de Cultura Contemporánea de Barcelona.
