El Museu Diocesà d’Urgell expondrá 16 pinturas restauradas del siglo XVI
02/11/2018
The Centro de Restauración de Bienes Muebles de Catalunya (CRBMC) has restored the Museu Diocesà d’Urgell collection of 16 paintings on canvas from the sixteenth century showing prophets and patriarchs, with the support of the Banco Sabadell Foundation.
These paintings, originally kept in the cathedral of La Seu d’Urgell, were repainted at the beginning of the twentieth century. Not only had they been affected by general wear over time, they were so blackened and smudged that some of the details added by the original painter could no longer be seen. The exhibition will be open at the Museu Diocesà until 2019. Find out more about this restoration on the museum’s website by clicking here.
