15th Banco Sabadell Foundation Award for Biomedical Research

The Banco Sabadell Foundation has given out its 15th Award for Biomedical Research, one of the most important accolades in Spain’s biomedical industry.

  • Award for scientists under the age of 42 who have developed their careers in Spain and have promising future prospects.
  • Dr Guillermina López-Bendito has been recognised for her innovative contribution in the field of developmental neurobiology, making pioneering contributions to understanding the formation and plasticity of nerve connections during brain development, under normal conditions and in sensory deprivation models.

“These awards are fundamental because they provide visibility, they recognise the work of scientists, who do what I call painstaking work – slow work but for everyone’s benefit. Investing in science means investing in the future of society. Because the ultimate goal of science is to improve our quality of life, to improve our well-being by building our knowledge to develop future tools that will improve our quality of life”
