Employability of vulnerable young people and promotion of third-sector institutions: learn more about the social impact of Banco Sabadell’s corporate volunteering programme

The Banco Sabadell volunteers that actively take part in programmes promoted by the Foundation have contributed positively to improving the employability of socially vulnerable young people through the Leader Coach initiative and have helped third-sector institutions to define their value proposition through the B-Value programme.

Coach Project: 20 professionals from Banco Sabadell contribute to improving the employability of socially vulnerable young people

The new edition of the Coach Project, an Exit Foundation initiative with the collaboration of Banco Sabadell, ended in March. This initiative aims to guide and motivate socially vulnerable young people that have failed in school through coaching and mentoring techniques.

For two months, twenty volunteers from Banco Sabadell took part in the Coach Project working in pairs with young people from the provinces of Cadiz and Seville.

María José Martínez, Commercial and Service Manager, shared her experience as a Leader Coach volunteer: “It has been a very interesting challenge in which we both have grown and in which through active listening and observation, we were able to pinpoint improvement areas and increase motivation, so that my mentee was able to develop his own resources for self-motivation and enthusiasm, and was able to reflect on where he wants to go. Always focusing on doing the work to be the best version of himself!

José Antonio Campos, Manager of Branch no. 1444 of Banco Sabadell and volunteer of the programme, explains: “I have been in contact with a pupil from a school in Jerez, Colegio Lasalle, having weekly group and one-on-one interactions during these two months. I had the opportunity to meet a wonderful person that is evolving both personally and professionally, and I offered my small contribution to help develop people. It was a great challenge, but very gratifying at the same time”.

The workshops and mentorships of B-Value, the social innovation programme for third-sector leaders, have started.

On 28 and 31 March, the first mentoring sessions of B-Value took place in Barcelona and Madrid, led by corporate volunteers from Banco Sabadell. B-Value is a programme co-promoted with the Ship2b Foundation aimed at leaders in the third sector who work in non-profit organisations based in Spain and who seek to develop their projects with a strategic vision in mind, design new income generation models, elevate their value proposition and move away from traditional philanthropic schemes.

On this occasion, 40 volunteers from the Career Acceleration Programme (CAP) will support the 40 participating institutions in the first phase of B-Value to define their value proposition through mentorships and design thinking workshops. The 10 organisations that will move onto the next phase of the programme that will end in November with the Demo-Day and the Awards Ceremony when the finalists will collect their prizes, will be unveiled at the end of May. In this year’s edition, Sabadell Seguros will also participate as strategic partner.

Victoria Climent, Governance, IT Risk and Business Continuity Director, tells us what being a mentor in this programme meant to her: “It has been amazing for me to provide them with that independent perspective, that value of what I do in the business world. To provide this knowledge to an organisation such as theirs (ACAPPS Association) so that they can mature their project has been fantastic”.

Arianna Tregón, Digital Strategy & Capacity Director, describes the experience as “very rewarding, I leave the programme with the feeling of having helped and given so much. My organisation is a fantastic project (Santa María la Real del Patrimonio Histórico Foundation) and I think I will continue to collaborate with them, outside this programme. I am already looking forward to participating again”.
