Schedule for weekend of 10 June: 5 exhibitions in Barcelona, Valencia, Alicante and Asturias

FotoColectania presents, for the first time in Barcelona, the exhibition ‘Vivian Maier. In Her Own Hands’ by the American nanny whose secret passion was to photograph the streets of New York and Chicago. 79 photographs, most of which have never been shown before, taken from the file that Vivian Maier was never able to develop.

In Asturias, in the Casa de la Cultura de Vegadeo you can visit the exhibition ‘To kill a mockingbird’ by Hugo O’Donnell until 28 July. This exhibition contains 38 works, a gallery of characters with incredible histories in small format by the painter during this year.

Another of our recommended exhibitions is ‘Lost in the city’, shown at the IVAM of Valencia. This exhibition has 300 works: paintings, sculptures, photographs and videos by artists such as Paul Citroën, Jan Kamman, Lee Friedlander and César Domela, which offer multiple visions of different spaces and human experiences in different cities throughout the world.

On Saturday 11 June, the DOCfield documentary photography festival is holdilng a workshop for the whole family called ‘Dear Europe’, in which photographs are used to explore the concepts of identity, values and challenges facing Europe. The festival will take place in the Palau Robert de Barcelona from 10:00 to 14:00.

And lastly, in Sax (Alicante), you can visit, until 24 July, the touring exhibition ‘Light of Rome’ on Roman lanterns, explaining the use, form and decoration of these small objects that underwent changes throughout the centuries of Roman rule.
